Selamat Paskah is a greeting about Easter in Indonesian language. Catholic and Christian celebrate it every year.
Talking about Easter, Catholic people used to fasting during Pra-Paskah, which starts with Rabu Abu. The fasting is not like our moslem friends do, which are not allowed to eat or drink in particularly time. But Catholic people must eat fully once a day and have a deal with theirselves about an idea to not do particular activity every Friday.
Then, Catholic people have a holy week before Paskah. They also used to go to church to attend Minggu Palma (Palm Sunday), Kamis Putih (Holy Thursday), Jumat Agung (Good Friday) and Sabtu Suci (Easter Vigil).
On Palm Sunday, Catholic People celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem as a beginnin of the holy week. Next, Holy Thursday is the commemoration of the Last Supper of Jesus. On Good Friday, they remember how Jesus are suffered and died by crucifixion as the ultimate sacrifice for people’s sins. Then, they celebrate resurrection of Jesus from the dead on Paskah (Easter Sunday).
In this modern era, Easter is closed enough with the art of egg painting / Easter Egg and bunny. I still have no idea why Easter Egg and Easter Bunny are related to this. I hope I’ll find out about it soon 😁
Happy Easter! Selamat Paskah!
